Abstract: Although clustering into groups (with implied relationships between and within groups) is a crucial component of human experience, there are relatively few methods of data analysis which harness the richness of a social perspective. I will discuss a new, concrete and interpretable approach to the analysis of data which can be used for hotspot and outlier detection, clustering, smoothing, and high-dimensional data perception. The talk will be accessible to all. Joint work with Kenneth Berenhaut.
