The Sinai-Ruelle-Bowen Measure and Its Entropy

Abstract: A dynamical system possessing a uniformly hyperbolic attractor is the standard model for a chaotic dynamical system. The Sinai-Ruelle-Bowen (SRB) measure describes the asymptotic statistical behavior of such a system and its measure-theoretic entropy characterizes in some sense the level of chaos in the system. This presentation will address the meaning and the implications of the SRB entropy and its potential connection to the laws of thermodynamics.
